I was asked to do an art test for the role of Art Director at Gameloft. I passed the test and the subsequent interviews but unfortunately we couldn't agree on a salary. It was an interesting experience and I learned a lot about the current state of the mobile gaming industry. The test was tailored to what the head of art perceived to be the holes in my work so I was really happy to do it. I love challenges and this was great fun.
This part of my test was to concept up a fortress for the evil imperial army - the brief was that the fortress should guard a mountain pass and be designed in such a way that a small force could defend it easily. I had a number of different ideas but settled on the idea of a hanging fortress on a cliff. The style was meant to be realistic RPG.
